Direct or indirect lighting

Direct lighting is created in a more traditional way, using exposed or recessed spotlights. Indirect lighting creates a more relaxing, cozy atmosphere, with subtle lighting concealed within crown molding or a dropped ceiling. It can also be used in drywall cabinets or bookshelves.

Types of open or closed crown molding

In open crown molding ceilings, a recess is created to house the LEDs. In closed crown molding ceilings, spotlights are recessed into the plaster. It is also possible to create a crown molding with the spotlights directed toward the walls instead of toward the center; we call this an inverted crown molding.
